XPS version numbers and bitstreams

Hi,

For the XPS project, if we use version numbers for individual pcores, everytime we come out with some updated version of our model we have to delete the old instance and add the pcore with the new version.  However, this means that the old version of the pcore bitstream generation will be overwritten if we do this.  Is there a way to save the old bitstream (and whatever other files are needed for this) some how and load them back in so that a bitstream generation isn't required everytime we want to revert to an older version?  Thanks.

Re: XPS version numbers and bitstreams

The best way is to copy the full XPS project folder, and add the updated pcore to the copy. We routinely do this when iterating on a complicated core (like the PHY). You can name the project folder anything (without spaces); you can also rename a project folder without triggering a hardware rebuild.
