Can WARP radio receive Wi-Fi frames?

Just wondering if a WARP radio is able to receive and parse Wi-Fi frames?
Many thanks,

Re: Can WARP radio receive Wi-Fi frames?

The WARP hardware can capture an 802.11 waveform (assuming you get the trigger and gains right), but to my knowledge no one has implemented an 802.11 PHY on WARP, either in the FPGA or MATLAB.

Re: Can WARP radio receive Wi-Fi frames?

Many thanks. As you explained "no one has implemented an 802.11 PHY on WARP", does it mean WARP Kits are not able to receive and parse Wi-Fi frame at the current state of WARP implementation?

Re: Can WARP radio receive Wi-Fi frames?

The WARP hardware (i.e. the physical boards and radios) would be capable of acting as a compliant 802.11 transmitter and receiver if the FPGA was programmed with a compliant 802.11 PHY and 802.11 MAC. That said, the OFDM PHY in the WARP repository is not 802.11 compliant and making it so, though feasible, would require a significant amount of engineering. Alternatively, there are 802.11 IP cores on the market that you could buy that should work, but I believe they are very expensive.
