WARP nodes as Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) receivers?

Hi all,

I am new to the forum. I am wondering if anybody used warp nodes as a receiver for AM radio or DRM radio? Is it possible to do this?

Best Regards,

Fantom.

I haven't heard of anyone using WARP for those standards. The current radio board doesn't cover frequencies that low, but an analog board could be used to sample those frequencies directly. You'd still need some kind of front-end circuit (at least an LNA, I'd think). The FPGA certainly has the processing power to demodulate either standard.

Thanks for your reply.

I am also wondering if Xilinx ISE Design Suite 11 supports WARP boards. I heard that Virtex-II Pro FPGA support is not given with this new version? Do you have any experiences with this new version?

Thanks.

Best Regards.

Re: WARP nodes as Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) receivers?

Yeah, Xilinx made the dubious decision to drop support for every pre-Virtex-4 device in ISE 11.1. They will continue to distribute the v10.1.3 tools. In some ways it's a relief. They "enhance" a lot of stuff with each tools release; keeping our big designs current with these "enhancements" has been a non-stop challenge.
