Something about the channel model!

Hi,all
I got one problem about the channel model used by the project, and the channel model was AWGN channel. I mean, since the effect of the AWGN channel is to add the Gaussian white noise to the input signals, like:

Y=HX+n,   the 'n' is the noise added by the AWGN channel, and the  'H' is the parameter we  need to estimate.

The question is about the parameter 'H'. I think the 'H' will always be '1' since we use the AWGN channel, but , if so, is that necessary for the receiver to create the channel estimation and equalization modules?
And if not, what does the 'H' represent for? I mean, which modules in the simulink model have something to do with the parameter 'H'?  Phase Noise module, Freq Offset module or other modules?
Sorry for the poor english expression and please help me!
Thank you!

Re: Something about the channel model!

The channel model in simulation is AWGN (plus phase noise and frequency offset). But when the OFDM transceiver is used in real-time over-the-air, it will experience actual frequency-selective fading (and phase noise and frequency offsets).
