Hello everyone
If i want to do 8x8 or 16x16 commincation using WARP nodes, can i do it just by using four WARP boards and Four FMC_RF modules on each board.
and what is the advantage of doing it over using 8 boards without FMC-RF module apart from cost.

I have read about FMC-BB-4DA module,i have seen the user guide which indicates the four analog PHY outputs are in I & Q form,So i need to know that For every wireless channels to be analyzed do we need the corresponding number of FMC-BB-4DA boards for debugging and for observing the real time signals.

You can assemble an 8-antenna node using 2 WARP v3 kits, 2 FMC-RF-2X245 modules and two CM-PLL modules. Double all this for a 16-antenna node.
Each RF interface on WARP v3 is a half-duplex transceiver. To build an 8x8 MIMO link (8 Tx antennas and 8 Rx antennas simultaneously) you would need two 8-antenna nodes.
The FMC-BB-4DA module is not required for any of our reference designs. It is most useful for observing real-time I/Q streams from a PHY receiver implemented in the FPGA. When using WARPLab, the FMC-BB-4DA module is not very useful. Most WARP v3 users do not use the FMC-BB-4DA module in their installations.

Do you mean that if i want to establish both transmitter and receiver node. Ii need , one node with above modules from one side and other side also same.

Yes. Building an 8x8 link requires an 8-antenna transmitter and 8-antenna receiver operating at the same time. This requires two 8-antenna nodes.

First of all thank you .
Now as you told the requirements needed for creating 8X8 Massive MIMO out of 2 warp nodes each including one WARP v3 kit, one FMC-RF-2x245 & one CM-PLL .Now i have a little queries as
1. DO we require only 2 CM-PLL modules for the whole setup of 8x8 MIMO or in total 4 modules. I was reading an example from WARP LAB 8x2 array where it is mentioned one CM-PLL for each board?
2.Are there any reference designs for creating this system available with Mango Communication.If yes please forward the link?
Actually i need to present a demo for 8x8 MIMO communication at our customer side.

A CM-PLL module is required for every WARP v3 node that must be synchronized with other nodes. When building an 8-antenna array with two 4-antenna nodes, both 4-antenna nodes must use CM-PLL modules to share clocks.
The WARPLab 8x2 example uses one 8-antenna node (2 WARP v3 + 2 FMC-RF-2X245 + 2 clock modules) and one 2-antenna node (WARP v3). The 2-antenna node does not require a clock module since it does not source or sink any external clock signals.
We do not have any example code for an 8x8 MIMO system. It would be straightforward to extend the WARPLab examples to generate and capture 8-antenna waveforms; our 8x2 example script would be a good starting point.

If i want to do 4x4 using only warp v3 kits (without using FMC Modules), how many CM-PLL modules are required to synchronize warpv3 kits.
Please suggest how to proceed for a 4x4 MIMO application using warpv3.

In order to share clocks between WARP v3 nodes, each node must be equipped with a clock module. So to build a 4-antenna "node" from two WARP v3 boards, both boards must have CM-PLL modules. One node will act as the clock source for both nodes.
The alternative is building a 4-antenna node with WARP v3 + FMC-RF-2X245. This setup does not require any clock modules; the FMC module uses the WARP v3 clocks by default.

if i want to perform above configuration ,I need to download the 4RF bit file to both boards and then extend 'wl_example_mimo_ofdm_txrx' for four antennas and run the design using Matlab and check the results.Please clarify if i am going wrong here?
Also are there any examples for 4x4 available for user demo purpose?

That's right, you'd need to extend the MIMO OFDM example to 4 radios and run it on the 4 antenna node. The only example code that uses more than 2 antennas on a WARP v3 node is the 8x2 array example.
