Question of Enthernet Cable

Hi,

What type of Enthernet Cable should I use if I want to connect PC and WARP board directly by an Enthernet Interface?

Thanks.

Re: Question of Enthernet Cable

The Ethernet port on the WARP FPGA board is a standard 10/100 interface, wired just like a PC. To connect it to a PC (or any Ethernet device), you'll need one of:

1) A cross-over Ethernet cable
2) An Ethernet hub/switch
3) A PC with auto-MDI/MDI-X (i.e. an Ethernet port that can cross its own Tx/Rx signals); most new PCs have this

The easiest way to know whether your network setup is correct is to download a bitstream to the FPGA that uses the Ethernet port; our OFDM reference design is a good example. If everything is hooked up properly, the Link LEDs on both ends of the link (i.e. on the WARP FPGA board and the PC/hub/switch) will light up.

Re: Question of Enthernet Cable

Thanks for the reply. I still have two questions.

1) How can I know whether the PC is with auto-MDI/MDI-X or not.

2)  Can you give me some running guides of the OFDM reference design?
