     11The implementation of each state depends on the role of the node. For example, a station (STA) generates a probe request as a scheduled event when searching for an AP. The AP answers probe requests with a probe response. In both cases the nodes transition through similar states, but execute different behaviors in each.

     13The current 802.11 Reference Design implements only the AP role, the documentation for which is below. A STA implementation will be included in a future release.
