HardwareUsersGuides/FPGABoard_v2.2/MGTs
v34 v35 89 89 We have created an [wiki:HardwareUsersGuides/FPGABoard_v2.2/MGTs/SFP-Ethernet example design] that uses the SFP Ethernet in a cabled loopback setup. 90 90 91 Every user design for the Virtex-4 must instantiate the MGTs or their performance will degrade over time (Xilinx app notes [http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp732.pdf here] and [http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/23410.htm here]). In order to make this easier we have created a pcore ([source:PlatformSupport/CustomPeripherals/pcores/mgt_null_controller_v1_0 1_a available in the repository]) that connects to all the MGT tiles and keeps them powered on. If you would like to use one of the MGTs you can use this as a model for connecting and disconnecting the appropriate MGT. An example MHS and UCF that uses the core is available [source:ResearchApps/PHY/WARPLAB/WARPLab_v05_2/EDK_Files_MIMO_4x4_FPGAv2 here].91 Every user design for the Virtex-4 must instantiate the MGTs or their performance will degrade over time (Xilinx app notes [http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp732.pdf here] and [http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/23410.htm here]). In order to make this easier we have created a pcore ([source:PlatformSupport/CustomPeripherals/pcores/mgt_null_controller_v1_02_a available in the repository]) that connects to all the MGT tiles and keeps them powered on. If you would like to use one of the MGTs you can Configure IP and disable the null MGT wrapper for the appropriate tile. Then use the constraints for the respective tile for your custom design.
