| 6 | == Abstract ==Practical designs of wireless full-duplex are made feasible by |
| 7 | reducing self-interference via active and passive methods. However, |
| 8 | extending full-duplex to long-range communication remains a challenge, |
| 9 | primarily due to residual self-interference even after a combination |
| 10 | of active cancellation and passive suppression methods is employed. In |
| 11 | this paper, we study the factor that limits the amount of active |
| 12 | cancellation in current designs of full-duplex. Through an experiment, |
| 13 | we show that phase noise in the local oscillator limits the amount of |
| 14 | active cancellation of the self-interference signal. Analysing the |
| 15 | design proposed by Duarte et al. in detail, we |
| 16 | show that modifying the quality of the local oscillator can |
| 17 | significantly increase the amount of active cancellation in |
| 18 | full-duplex systems. |
