Locking Addresses

Section 4 of the "Good Design Flow Practice for XPS 8.1i" documentation says:

Addresses View (IMPORTANT): LOCK all addresses that are already in place, THEN proceed to click Generate Addresses. The reason for this, is because there have been instances in which hardware has ceased to respond properly or memory overlap errors occur...

Does this apply for XPS 9.1 as well? When I open up the Ref. Design v8, only the <ofdm_TxRx_mimo_opbw_0> and <user_io_board_controller_opbw_0> instances' addresses are locked. Should I lock the addresses of all the other instances that have already been assigned an address, before Generating Addresses? Thanks.

Re: Locking Addresses

We had trouble with the address generator in XPS 8.1, especially with cores generated by sysgen2opb's shared memory extension (like the user_IO and ofdm_txrx cores). We set their base addresses and sizes manually, locked them, then let XPS generate the rest of the addresses. I don't know whether this is required in 9.1; we continue to do it mostly by habit.
