Dear Administrator
I am a beginner in IEEE 802.11a Standard and MIMO-OFDM. In the "wlan_phy_tx_pmd" system generator in "Mango_802.11_RefDes_v1.3.0" I find 4 antennaa in the receiver. But I can understand which MIMO Structure is used in this system?? (STBC, Alamuti, ....)
If possible, give me more details about the MIMO structure that used in this system.
Thank you

The current 802.11 Reference Design (v1.3) implements the SISO modes from 11a/g. It also enables selection diversity at Tx and Rx. Selection diversity allows the Tx/Rx PHY to select which antenna is used for any given Tx/Rx. For Tx this selection is always specified by the MAC code. For Rx the antenna selection can be static, set by code, or automatic, where the PHY selects the best antenna per Rx based on received power.

You can find documentation on the PHY here. As of version 1.3.0 (i.e. the current version as of this post), the PHY is SISO. You can see some pointers on how to extend the PHY to support MIMO in this forum post.

If the designed system is not MIMO, so what is the advantage of using multiple antennas in the receiver ?
Thank you

Refer my reply above - multiple antennas are used for selection diversity.
