Problem in MIMO with Radio Card

Hello,

We are trying to implement basic MIMO 2x2 with the default program and 4X4 bit streams provided. The program does work but with incorrect output for radio 3. We tried to troubleshoot Radio 3 by running a SISO example program but using radio 3 in the program instead of radio 2 and it still gives wrong readings. We try the same by connecting Radio 1 and Radio 4 but still no success. The radio connections to the board are perfectly fine as suggested by the documents on the website. Any other suggestions as to why this may not be working? Is the default bit stream only programmed to work for Radio 2 in SISO case? And for running MIMO do we need to do something else apart from using the 4x4 bit stream?

Thank you.

You'll need to provide more details. What was wrong with the output? Were both Tx and Rx bad via Radio 3? What waveform did you test with (simple sinusoid? wideband?)? Do you see the same "wrong" output with other kits?

Re: Problem in MIMO with Radio Card

We run the siso_example_comm program in which randomly generated bits are transmitted and received...the bit error rate is then calculated from this..now the antennas are close enough and the gains are also sufficiently high...so when we run the original program which runs with radio 2, we get no bit error rate..and the the transmitted signal is received almost as it.
But the same conditions using radio 3(for both tx and rx) give a bit error rate of more than 50% and the received waveforms are not like how they should be..
Even when we run the mimo 2x2 matlab program provided in the repository, radio 3 gains have to be set much much higher to receive some signal...

Re: Problem in MIMO with Radio Card

I would suggest using a simpler waveform than the comm example to debug a hardware issue. Try a simple sinusoid instead. I would also suggest using a cable and series attenuator (>30dB) so the Rx power is deterministic. Together these will help narrow down the issue- whether it's a power loss or some other corruption of the waveform.
