The OFDM physical layers include a BER testing subsystem. The Rx has a separate buffer for a known testing packet, and calculates the BER of each received packet by comparing it to the known bytes. The software project to drive BER testing must be separate from the normal wireless bridge projects, since both nodes need to know packet contents a-priori. Let me gather some example code (I'll post it here soon).
